The new luxury class AUDI AG flagship has had its world premiere at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. And BOXMARK was in the midst of it all because the BOXMARK development team had to strike out in a completely new direction to meet the requirements of the new Audi D4 seat cover. The Audi design team put in great efforts to achieve the most sophisticated design, the very best seating comfort, technical precision and perfect ergonomics.
To achieve ultimate perfection the fully developed seat cover had to be realised so that the desired understatement of the cabin could be stylishly implemented. The technical functions of the seat and the top-level requirements as to leather quality, material cut, perforation, sewing and coating technologies demanded a completely new production process approach.
Here the straight-line, perfectly fitted overlock seam finish is the one-of-a-kind technical challenge. The special crowning glory is narrowing the leather surface on all sides which can no longer be stitched in straight lines. It is only due to a brand new perforation technique that the desired decorative stitching can be done on large-area climate perforated leather cuttings, and still keep up with the highest precision standards regarding seam contour and seam pattern.
The goal, the claims set by AUDI – highest precision linked with perfect technologies und individual manufacture – will further encourage us and our entire staff to continue to stand out from the crowd by excellent quality and state-of-the art know-how in the future.
